Looks like Chad Reed’s spring cleaning came late. The multi-time champion has put a number of items up for sale, including his motorhome and Flordia practice compound, but the one that will be in most people’s budget is this 2016 Yamaha YZ250.
The bike has been in Reed’s fleet for a little while but has been ridden very little, as there are only a total of three hours on the two-stroke. To get the power delivery to Reed’s liking, the cylinder and head were tuned to replicate the factory Yamaha parts he raced with on his 2004 YZ250 and matched to a factory Yamaha piston, while a Pro Circuit Factory pipe and Ti-2 Shorty silencer complete the list of engine modifications.
Other parts of the bike have received some aftermarket attention, as the front brake rotor is a unit by Braking, the clutch cover has been swapped for a piece from GYRT, Vortex sprockets and a D.I.D. chain deliver power to the rear wheel, and Renthal Twinwall handlebars are paired with ARC levers. The factory appearance of the bike is completed with dark blue powder coating on the aluminum frame and a 2004 Yamaha race graphic set from Factory Effex.
Reed is selling this bike for $8000. The bike is located in Dade City, Florida, and the purchaser will be responsible for the shipping.
UPDATE: REED SOLD THE BIKE FOR ASKING PRICE HOURS AFTER THE POSTING WENT LIVE.
