Back in the day, having a super-cool custom-painted motocross helmet was about as common as having your name on the back of your jersey. Custom paint shops flourished across the nation, and if you showed up with a cue-ball white lid, it was a dead giveaway that you were a goon. But then something changed. Stock helmet graphics got better. Way better. And helmet manufacturers began to require their riders to wear helmets that they actually sold. And then energy drink companies required their sponsored riders to wear standardized paint schemes. Lame! In this day and age, truly custom painted helmets are a rarity of sorts in the United States.
