Midway through 450 Moto Two at the 2018 Glen Helen Motocross, yellow flags and “wheels on the ground” flags were thrown over the large hump that came just after the Talladega turn to indicate a crash. The downed rider was H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki rider Kyle Cunningham, who made a mistake over the treacherous section and was tossed off of his Suzuki RM-Z450. Cunningham was tended to by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit staff on the track and was taken off the track in the medical mule attached to a backboard.
Although little was known at the time, Cunningham suffered no serious injuries in the crash, a relief considering the frantic efforts of the medics to get him off the track and into the medical unit.
Cunningham plans to race the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on his own, as the California-based H.E.P. Motorsports Suzuki team planned only to attend the local rounds of the series.
