Nation’s Fastest Females Showcasing More Support than Ever Before
MORGANTOWN, W.V. (April 28, 2010) – The success achieved at last season’s Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX) has carried over into 2010 as the nation’s top female competitors prepare for another exciting eight-race championship featuring two new tracks, a new title sponsor and more support for the riders and the series than ever before.
Highlighting the 2010 season is title sponsorship from MotorcycleUSA.com, which covers the all aspects motorcycling and off road riding, and who will also serve as the sponsor for the WMX Class Holeshot Award. Also creating considerable buzz is the introduction of a pair of new venues to the schedule. For the first time, women will be featured at the legendary Rockstar Energy RedBud National on 4th of July weekend as well as the very popular and historical Rockstar Energy Spring Creek National on July 17.
The remaining rounds of the season return to some of the most legendary tracks on the planet in Hangtown, Freestone, High Point, Thunder Valley, Moto-X 338 and Steel City-all key stops on the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship schedule.
In addition to the title sponsorship, MotorcycleUSA.com will also sponsor the WMX Class Holeshot Awards – $250 for each moto – providing the ahletes with some extra incentive to get out front early.
Defending two-time champion Ashley Fiolek will lead the way for Honda Red Bull Racing as challengers Jessica Patterson, who now races from DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing Yamaha, Sherri Cruse, a member of the Suzuki City squad, Vicki Golden, of MotoConcepts Yamaha all give chase. In addition, Tarah Gieger, the newest member of Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil Honda, will also be a part of the talented lineup looking to dethrone the phenom’s two-year dominance with support from some of the most well-known teams in the industry.
Additional series sponsorship will come from Rekluse Motor Sports, Dunlop Tires, Rockwell Watches and Able Plant Services.
The MotorcycleUSA.com Women’s Motocross Championship season kicks-off from the Rockstar Energy Hangtown Classic on May 22.
