With both Jason Anderson sidelined until August with a broken foot and Dean Wilson out for the rest of the summer with a torn ACL, the Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna team have announced the signing of Phil Nicoletti to complete the remainder of the 2018 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in the 450 class. Nicoletti’s 2018 program was very unique as he was signed to AutoTrader/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing for a Supercross-only contract to race the 250 West Coast region but was extended through the summer months to race in the 450 class for “select rounds” as Justin Bogle recovered from injury. With Bogle nearing his return to the starting line it was uncertain if Nicoletti, who is currently seventh in the 450 championship standings, would remain on the team or be benched. We spoke with Nicoletti at the Thunder Valley round last weekend and he hinted that something was in the works, but would not say much more.
The press release from the Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna is posted in full below…
