It’s hard not to root for Dean Wilson. The former 250 National Champion is racing in 2017 as a privateer with help from a small group of sponsors and friends. Though the situation is a tough one, the Scotsman has a positive attitude and is giving it his all. This weekend at San Diego, we enjoyed watching Deano interact with his former mechanic Paul Perebijnos, who helped guide him to all of his successes as a member of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team. Now Brand Manager at Pro Taper, Perebijnos stopped by the DW15 pit to help his friend check his shock sag and also to suggest a gearing change. Later that night, Wilson raced to 12th in the 450 Supercross main after rounding the first turn in 20th, passing Yamaha factory rider Cooper Webb along the way.
We’re betting that sometime this year, we’ll see Wilson called up to a full factory team again.
