In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
In my mind, one of the coolest success stories of 2017 has been Dean Wilson’s rise from the depths of privateer life to full factory status again. After five rounds aboard a privateer Yamaha YZ450F that he and his dad Andy built with the help of close friend Casey Huntley, Wilson proved his worth to Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing boss Bobby Hewitt and was recruited to finish out the Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Motocross Nationals aboard a factory Husky FC 450.
With the factory ride came immediate results: Wilson had flirted with the top 10 as a privateer, but finished fifth in his first appearance on the Husqvarna. Since then, even an eighth like he turned in at Toronto is not enough to satisfy the likable Scot. He wants more!
Here’s to your success, Deano. You deserve it. – swap
