Now that the offseason is here, we've got some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot with a daily post, sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
I got into dirt bikes around the age of 10 or 11, and Jeremy McGrath was my absolute hero! Even before I got my first bike, I had probably half a dozen posters of "The King" plastered all over my room. My favorite, though, was the "Men In Blue" poster. For the '98 Chaparral/Yamaha team poster, they decided to shoot a spoof off of the Will Smith alien movie, Men In Black. Both rocking bleached hair, Jimmy Button and MC stood there while each of them held their weapon of choice. Button held a platinum coated exhaust pipe and MC clutched a gold Kayaba fork leg. Best team poster, ever, in my opinion!
Just a few months ago, TransWorld was invited to head over to Pala Raceway to capture some of the action as SPY Optics filmed MC for the release of their new goggles. If I were to be completely honest, I was pretty nervous that morning knowing that I would more than likely have the opportunity to meet my childhood hero. Low and behold, not even ten minutes after I arrived, I met "The King!" Once everyone geared up and hit the track, I didn't even notice the riders as they repeatedly blew up this dusty berm. After I saw the cloud of dust floating my way, I ran over there and snapped a few right before they stopped. This shot is one of my favorites from that memorable day. Thanks for being such a bad dude, Jeremy!
