The open rule package at the 2017 Monster Energy Cup has been put to good use by Red Bull KTM. We’ve heard for months that the Austrian brand is developing a new machine for the 2018 race season, but aside from rumors of a new motor and chassis, there have been very few details. That changed on Saturday, as a look-over of Broc Tickle’s bike revealed plenty. When compared side-by-side to the bikes used during the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series, we can see that the geometry of the frame has been altered, the cylinder of the engine is different, the engine mounts are different, the exhaust has been redesigned, and the WP shock reservoir has a vertical angle complete with new components.
The team will not say much about the bike, obviously, but it was openly displayed in the pit area and on the track. We expect this to be the 2018 Factory Edition platform that is often released right before the start of the race season.
