On August 14-17, Greys Harbor ORV hosted the inaugural Ryan Villopoto MX Summer Camp; a multi-day motocross workshop that covered every aspect of on-track riding skills, as well as bike setup tips for parents and mechanics. Nearly 70 campers turned out to improve their riding technique and enjoyed riding instruction and insight from Ryan Villopoto, Jake Weimer, Ivan Tedesco, Tommy Weeck, Carson Brown and Jay Whipple.

Nearly 70 campers showed up to improve their riding technique and increase their on-track speed.

On the last day of camp, riders took to the track and were observed by the instructors and evaluated on their overall progress. Some riders took that opportunity to pick the brains of coaches (Jake Weimer shown here) for some critiques.

On the final day, RV himself geared up and took to the track for some very quick laps around the Greys Harbor ORV course.

Jason Erler traveled all the way from Corona, California, to attend RV MX Summer Camp. We wonder which counselor taught him about “creative” lines…

Jay Whipple is a popular MX School instructor in the Pacific Northwest. Former West Coast 250 SX Champion Jake Weimer joined his former Monster Energy Kawasaki teammate RV to help teach at Summer Camp.

Tommy Weeck was a former top National privateer racer only a few short years ago, but he remains a hero in the PNW. Weeck was part of the esteemed coaching staff at Summer Camp.

Ivan Tedesco quietly retired from professional racing after suffering a bout of heat stroke at Budds Creek a few years ago. Hot Sauce remains active on a motocross bike and still has world-class speed. Many of the campers coined him as their favorite trainer of the week.

In case you missed it, here are a few laps around the Greys Harbor ORV track with Ryan Villopoto. Once known best for its hard-packed surface, the track has recently been transformed into a loamy, high-traction circuit with plenty of challenging ruts.
