Thor’s Wilson Earns First Win of 2012 in Phoenix

Thor's Dean Wilson showed he had winning speed at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz., despite fighting a chest cold all weekend, to earn both a heat race and main event win in the AMA Supercross Lites Western Region class. Teammate Tyla Rattray took over the coveted red number plate after a consistent third-place finish accelerated him into the points lead.

In the premier class, Thor's Jake Weimer earned his first ever heat-race win in the class and went on to grab his first-career podium in the main event. Thor's Ryan Villopoto started the race at the front of the pack, but a tip over in a tough sand section pushed him back to 18th after crossing the finish on Lap 1. Passing for position ensued the entire 20-lap race as he moved into a podium spot on the last lap to finish third and maintain first in the point standings.

The World Off Road Championship Series started up again with the opening round being held at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif. During Saturday's moto, Thor rider Taylor Robert narrowly edged out Thor's Mike Brown for the first win of the season. Sunday's second moto saw Robert put together the fastest lap time of the day, before going on to finish second with Brown close behind in third. Thor racer Ivan Ramirez managed to grab a second-place finish during Sunday's Pro 2 race. After the overall results were tallied, Robert was first, and Brown finished second overall.
