Just days before the first-ever SLAM Pro race in 2009,  a small group of other people, including Donn, Chris, Jeff Emig, and myself, were putting in laps at Perris Raceway on a Tuesday afternoon. Between motos, everyone’s attention turned to a kid on a Kawasaki that was practically doing motos around two trash cans off to the side. While many of us were unsure who he was, someone piped up and stated, “That is Dean Wilson. He is an amateur racer in the A class.” Over the next days, Dean talked his way into the race and shocked the field when he bested Dan Reardon in the final round to earn his first of many TransWorld coversWe are all familiar with Dean’s accomplishments over the past few seasons, but we like to think we helped set it off just a bit.
