Ahead of the opening gate drop of the year, the Legends and Heroes tour awarded Troy Lee for his contributions to motocross and Supercross as a helmet painter, the founder of Troy Lee Designs, and the owner of the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM team.

Lee’s name is synonymous with the colorful designs and artwork that have been a staple throughout his entire career. Through entrepreneurship, relationship building, and collaborating, Lee quickly grew his helmet painting into something more. In the recent past, Troy Lee Designs has worked with Adidas on top-notch performance gear and the McQueen family in honoring the legend of Steve McQueen.

“I’m still trying to figure it out because I’ve been hanging out so long and I don’t know any better,” Lee said when asked about the award. “I’ve been doing the same thing for forty years. I started racing motorcycles and painting helmets and I’m just proud to be working with all of the people I’m working with. I just love the sport and I want to keep doing it. I want to make a difference by doing cool stuff.”

As for the Legends and Heroes tour, they will continue to honor important influencers of the sport for the remaining 16 rounds of the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross series as part of opening ceremonies. In addition, they have reimagined their museum display in the pits for the new season with a walk-through timeline with help from EZ-Up.
