Name: Pol Ucar Sanchez
Hometown: Cataluna, Spain
Classes raced: Supermini 3, Novice
We met Pol Ucal Sanchez at this year’s Mini Major, presented by Seven MX, and we are pretty sure that he holds the honor of being the racer who traveled the furthest to compete in our third-annual mini race at Milestone MX Park. With the help of Bob Morales from ASV Inventions, Pol came to SoCal all the way from Cataluna, Spain to compete! Pol’s English was limited so his answers were short and sweet, with the help from one of the Spanish-speaking employees at the Milestone snack bar. According to his father, Pol is a fierce enduro competitor in his home country and is among the top-rated mini riders.
How long have you been racing and what led you to choose motocross?
I have been riding since I was three years old and I chose motocross to be strong in the future. Dirt bikes are more fun that other sports!
Do you do any other sports or hobbies?
I like to play volleyball and fútbol, but motorcycles are my favorite thing to do. I race enduro at home in Spain.
Who is your biggest influence in racing?
Because my father is a rider and I live with him, he is my influence. I listen to all of the words of advice he gives to me!
We understand that you came all the way from Cataluna. Tell me about the racing in Spain.
It is pretty much the same as here, but there are less riders, and a lot less kids who ride. The tracks over in Spain have too many rocks. (Laughs) I like Milestone. This is a great track!
Tell me about your bike and why you chose it?
I have a sponsor ASV that offered me a Yamaha YZ85 and I took it, I like it. It is a great bike for me to race motocross on.
What are your favorite types of tracks and track obstacles?
Kind of wet, no rocks on the track, and not too much dust. Milestone is perfect!
