It's almost here! The 2016 TWMX Trans-Am presented by MTA Distributing will commence this Friday at 9AM, and we couldn't be more excited, as this weekend's racing is shaping up to be nothing short of exciting. Glen Helen Raceway is the site for the three-day event, and with the rough conditions that the San Bernardino County facility is famous for, this weekend's racing action should be something that won't be soon forgotten. And did we mention the expected weather conditions? Nothing but sunshine and warm weather awaits this time around, as the original date was postponed due to an entire weekend of heavy rains.
For the first time in 2015, the inaugural TWMX Trans-Am was kicked off at Milestone MX Ranch and the event was a tremendous success for everyone involved. It was especially exciting for the racers, though, because the Milestone MX main track saw some changes in the week leading up to the event, and you better believe that this year's Trans-Am racetrack will see the same exciting changes for this weekend. The Glen Helen track crew has been hard at work over the past few weeks to give racers a new track experience like no other thanks to an added sand section, a split-lane rally towel section just before the finish line and a recent reversal in the direction to go along with a few more minor changes, so we can expect to see Glen Helen like we've never seen it before.
One of the more exciting aspects of this weekend is the expected talent. Last year’s race saw a massive turnout of riders, and we're expecting even more this weekend along with a wider range of class favorites. Just to name a few, Yamalube/Star Racing/Yamaha young gun Mitchell Harrison is set to contest the pro classes after wrapping up his rookie Supercross season last weekend, as well as Braden O'Neal, Tyler Rosa and a host of other So-Cal racers will go to battle in the intense intermediate classes. As for the ever-exciting Supermini class, you can expect to see KTM ripper Jo Shimoda towards the front of the pack, as the young Japanese racer rounds out his final year aboard minis.
This weekend will be filled with tons of giveaways for the overall class winners thanks to the TWMX Trans Am sponsors. Here's a breakdown of the giveaways:
