As we mentioned earlier this week in the 450 Teams For 2016, a number of riders have showed extreme interest in landing the second spot at Monster Energy Kawasaki (Eli Tomac’s signing has all but been announced), but we learned today that it will be filled by Wil Hahn. This is excellent news for Hahn, because Kawasaki had the option in their contract to either stay together for another year or seek out a new rider.
Hahn’s time with the team has been tough, since he suffered a number of injuries in a practice crash at the opening round of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross Series and then missed rounds of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship after another body-jarring incident while testing. Now fully healed, he has returned to riding and preparing for next year.
However, this means Josh Grant will not be with the team in 2016. After being hired by Monster Energy Kawasaki for the final rounds of the Nationals and the upcoming MXGP of USA at Glen Helen, Grant expressed great interest in staying through next year. There is a chance he will race for them at the Monster Energy Cup in October also, but anything after this is in question.
