"The 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship visited Crawfordsville, Indiana, this past weekend for the final round at Ironman Raceway. All summer long we had a bunch of rain, and we got lucky with no actual mudders, but a lot rain leading up to races made for some brutal race tracks this season. Ironman was no different, and a lot of rain and weather hitting the Indianapolis area the week before the event had the course saturated with more rain in the forecast for Saturday. Aside from a small shower early Saturday morning the fans got super lucky, because it was near perfect all day long and the track crew did a great job to scrape off the muck, but the track was still brutal with ruts. This is one of my favorite rounds for the simple fact that I live an hour from the race track and and can sleep in my own bed. The course is definitely super tough to shoot, though—the track is spread out quite a bit with some large hills that you have to climb. Ken Roczen and Cooper Webb locked up their championships last week, but that didn’t hinder the racing at the final round with Austin Forkner breaking through to get his first professional overall win in his rookie season and then Roczen dominated the 450 class to put a stamp on a successful outdoor campaign. The outdoor season may be done, but there’s quite a bit of action coming up with two USGPs, Monster Energy Cup, Red Bull Straight Rhythm, and a bunch of international SX races to keep you busy in this off season. Hope to see a lot of people at the Charlotte USGP this weekend!” —TWMX photographer Ryne Swanberg
