If there is one race that every American motocross fan should attend, it’s RedBud. From the moment you pull onto the Michigan backroads, signs lead you right into the heart of a party. From Friday to Sunday fans fill the hillsides, drink way too much alcohol, watch Fourth of July fireworks, and cheer on the best MX riders on this side of the world. There is no other event on the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship that is on the same level as RedBud, no matter how hard they try.
Didn’t make it this year? Here’s what we saw.
Thoughts on the 250 Moto One incident between front-runners Aaron Plessinger and Austin Forkner? The crash footage has made its rounds and the discussion is split on overly aggressive to a simple racing incident. But if the racers involved are okay with it, which was evident in our How Was Your Weekend interviews, then we all should be, too.
Very recently we were worried about the future of the sport, as low turnouts at certain SX and MX rounds made it seem like riders weren’t willing to risk it as much as years past. Well, our concerns might be without merit, because at RedBud both the 250 and 450 classes reached their cap of racers in the pre-entry period! That’s over 180 riders on the track on a Saturday. Here’s hoping the trend continues.
