Factory Honda | The Machines

Every year when the new season of racing begins, one of the best parts about Anaheim One is the debut of each manufacturer's race weapons. Each machine is hand built to rider preference, and the detail and assets invested are unparalleled. We cruised the pits the Friday before race day and shot photos of each of the six major manufacturer's factory 450 and 250 class efforts. We’ll be posting galleries throughout the week of the big six with some bike details included. Sit back and enjoy the factory freshness.

Easily the most iconic of the factory race efforts, team Honda has always had some of the most high-end race machines of all time throughout the years. They’ve hosted many champions in the past with legendary names like O’mara, Johnson, Stanton, Bayle, McGrath, and Carmichael all collecting championships along the way. With Cole Seely and Trey Canard now at the helm, they have two good chances to win races and compete for championships at any given time this year. On the 250 side, GEICO Honda has long been Honda’s flagship effort and has become one of the top teams to strive for in the small bore class. As a bonus we shot Justin Bogle’s GEICO Honda 450, which pits out of the HRC rig with Seely and Canard’s bikes.

Team HRC Honda always keeps the race bikes looking pretty similar to production. An example is this suspension linkage setup-while it looks stock it’s certainly modified to their needs.

Machined titanium footpegs, full-custom rear brake assembly, and this carbon fiber rear brake master cylinder cover are FAR from production looking, however!

All of the Honda bikes run Yoshimura exhaust, and they’re all carbon fiber.

GEICO Honda is known to have some powerful race bikes, and the crew never rests at trying to improve on their race package.

Notice the foam around the side plates, which helps with sound dampening.

They even run foam under the seat and a few other places to help regulate sound.

Christian Craig’s mechanic also runs this foam in between the rear brake pedal and frame to prevent any rocks or debris to jam in there during a race.
