In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
Last week news drifted out from Europe that Team Honda HRC MXGP would not renew Evgeny Bobryshev’s contract for the 2018 season. For many, it was a surprise as the Russian rider had received support from the brand since 2010 and flourished on the CRF450R. Interviews with Bobryshev and Honda’s Roger Harvey were conducted by our friends MX Vice following the 2017 MXGP of Switzerland on Sunday afternoon, and their take on the decision is honest and refreshing.
So what happens next with Bobby? Multiple riders are nearing the end of their current contracts with teams in the MXGP paddock and announcements of new agreements are coming out quite often, which means Bobryshev’s options are limited late in the year. It will be interesting to see what comes next for the veteran racer, as he’s made it clear that he’s not ready to call it quits and has a handful of rounds left in the 2017 Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship to improve those in positions of power.
