In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
Round three of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is headed for Thunder Valley this weekend, so we decided to utilize one of our many images from our trip to Colorado in 2016 for today's "Photo Of The Day." I flicked this shot of Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy during the opening laps of Moto One as I attempted to capture the chaos that ensues once all 40 riders take to the track. This was a good weekend for the Pro Circuit rider, as his 2-1 moto score was enough to give him the overall as the points lead, which he had lost just a week prior at Glen Helen Raceway to Alex Martin.
This was a very memorable trip for me, as I had never been to CO before, so I was a little taken back by the amount of greenery that covered seemingly everything in sight; a far cry from the scenery we're used to here in Southern California. I even saw deer next to the freeway onramp! Needless to say, I had an absolute blast last year shooting at Thunder Valley with our Online Editor Michael Antonovich, so I'm sad to say that I won't be making it up there again this year. There's always next year, though!
