In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
How about that podium finish last weekend out of TLD/Red Bull/GoPro/KTM's Mitchell Oldenburg? Some may not have expected a finish like that – especially since the Seattle SX was his first race back following a shoulder injury from earlier in the season – but I sure did. I've personally seen some of the hard work that the TLD boys put in on and off the racetrack, so a podium finish for "Freckle" was, in my opinion, inevitable.
Beginning his professional racing career in 2013, Oldenburg ran a full-fledged privateer program for several years before being picked up by TLD/Red Bull/GoPro/KTM as a fill-in rider in 2016. Since then, Oldenburg has been on the rise ultimately progressing every time he's on the bike, and it was a pleasure to see his hard work pay off in Seattle. Following his career best third place finish last weekend, Oldenburg said in an Instagram post, "I'm pumped to get that monkey off my back!" Let's see what he can do with a little momentum and confidence on his side.
