In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…

For today’s Photo of the Day, presented by O’neal, I decided to go with this shot of all six manufacturer’s 2017 450cc machines placed nicely in the green Zaca Station grass for our TWMX 450cc shootout. Every year our staff at TransWorld Motocross conducts both a 250cc and 450cc shootout, and generally both happen around the same time frame. The amount of work that goes into the back end of each shootout is monumental, but today we’re just going to focus on how this photo makes you want a day at the always beautifully prepped Zaca Station MX Park! Shooting the bikes in the morning is usually a scramble, and every detail matters. Riders are getting geared up to test and waiting for this shoot to be completed, and I’m usually running around (often with great help) moving my lights, spacing the bikes out, and pretty much being as OCD as possible without going insane! The end result is usually cool, and the final product of this year’s shootout lives in our February issue which is on newsstands now. Check it out to see which manufacturer claimed the top spot this year, and if you’ve read this far leave a comment below on which bike you’d pick first!
