In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We'll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
If you tuned in to the finale of the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series from Las Vegas, NV in time for the 250 Main Event you were probably on the edge of your seat the entire race; or maybe even the whole night for that matter. The lead along with the points lead changed seemingly every two laps, as the top four riders all had a good chance at winning the title, but when the dust finally settled after the action packed 15 minute +2 lap race it was Rockstar Energy Racing Husqvarna's Zach Osborne that emerged with the 2017 250SX East Coast Championship following a performance that'll undoubtedly go down in the history books.
Osborne went down in the first turn, and remounted in 21st. From there, a hard-charge for Joey Savatgy ensued, and it quite literally came down to the wire. The #16 managed to reel in the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider on the final lap, and with two turns to go Osborne went in for the kill ultimately putting Savatgy on the ground and the 2017 250SX East Coast Championship in his hand.
The perseverance and unrelenting will to win that Osborne displayed on Saturday night was something that I've never before seen – let alone in person – and it was an honor to have witnessed greatness firsthand. Congratulations on a very well deserved championship, Zacho!
