Now that the offseason is here, we've got some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the years. We'll highlight each shot with a daily post, with wallpapers sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described by a small backstory...
If you were a Supercross fan growing up in the 1990s and early 2000s like I was, it was pretty damned impossible to not root for Jeremy McGrath. The dude was my idol--full on MC bandwagon and I even raced with his Bell Showtime 2 replica helmet as a kid. I had always wanted to meet him or at least watch him line up at a race in person, but I grew up in Maine and making it to a Supercross would have required my parents to buy me a plane ticket to another region of the United States. Fortunately I made the move to Southern California before McGrath retired completely, and I finally got to see him race at Angel Stadium while he was still in the game as a part-timer.
I shot this photo of MC late last year at Cahuilla Creek MX during the SPY Optic Ride Day when he revealed his partnership with Kawasaki, and it made the poster in our February issue of TransWorld Motocross. After all these years on top of the sport, McGrath seems truly humbled by everything he has been able to do and accomplish throughout his career, and he’s by far one of our favorite people to work with. Long live the King!
