Since our parent company (The Enthusiast Network) also owns the GEICO EnduroCross Series, we’ve paid closer attention to the indoor/off-road events this year. And we have to say, they’re pretty damn cool. The Europeans were the first to bring an array of unusual obstacles into stadiums and put the skills of riders on display for the comfortable fans, which French promoter Eric Peronnard then brought to the United States in the early 2000s. It quickly grew from a standalone event to a full-fledged championship that takes place around the country and as a part of the iconic X Games.
Shooting an EnduroCross event is quite unlike motocross or Supercross. When we asked where we were allowed to stand on the floor during the opening round of this year’s tour in Daytona, the answer I received was pretty much, “You can go wherever the bikes aren’t.” Alright…
If you have the chance to make it to one of the remaining rounds in the 2015 GEICO EnduroCross Series, we highly recommend going (and that’s not an order from corporate). Cody Webb and Colton Haaker (the rider in the featured photo) are in a tight fight for the title, with only seven points now separating them in the standings. Former pro motocross star Mike Brown is in the mix as well, and any one of the talented competitors could claim an unexpected victory. You might even feel inspired enough to jump a few logs the next day…
