Sherco’s Matthew Phillips on Podium After First Enduro GP of the Year

Extreme Conditions in Finland

The first round of the Enduro GP World Championship was held this past weekend in the snow and cold of Finland. Sherco team rider Matthew Phillips had to face some extreme weather conditions in his quest for the championship.

Despite a complicated Saturday where Matthew suffered a loss of energy during the second half of the race, the Australian recovered and raced very well on Sunday, finishing in a solid 3rd place in E2. An outstanding performance given the conditions: “an infernal race for the southerners” according to Fabrizio Azzalin, where the “locals” shone.

The team would like to thank Sauli Pentilla’s MP Racing team for their tremendous work and excellent support.

The start of the World Championship involves both the rider and the bike, Team Sherco is 100% involved and is preparing to reach the top in Spain where the next event will take place (this time the youth and juniors will be racing).

Matthew Phillips: "I had one of the hardest days of my career yesterday … I got really cold in the morning and it drained all my energy. Today, I am a lot happier even if I didn't have the best settings for this race but as and when, we found terrain where I felt more comfortable. I’m already looking forward to Spain!"
