AMA PRO MOTOCROSS
Spring Creek National – Millville, MN – July 21, 2018
After stalking the leader for three-quarters of the race, Eli Tomac took the lead and checked out for the Moto 1 win. In the second Moto, Tomac had a 7th place start and chased down the leaders, eventually taking the 2nd spot with five minutes remaining, then pushed into the “Beast” mode to catch the leader with 2 1/2 laps to go. If you saw it on TV, then you know it was a beautiful thing to watch. His 1-1 Moto finishes made a definite statement.
It was definitely Star Racing Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger’s day as he took control of both Motos in the 250cc Class and posted 1-1 Moto finishes. Plessinger is also in control of the points race with a 49 point lead.
2nd overall in the 250cc Class went to another Star Racing Yamaha rider, Justin Cooper. Cooper had a strong day, finishing 4th in the first Moto and 3rd in the second Moto.
Austin Forkner finished 2nd in Moto 1 behind Plessinger and was running in 4th overall in Moto 2 when he collided with a lapper, damaging his radiator. He salvaged an 18th place finish for an 8th overall on the day.
A 10th place finish in Moto 1 combined with a solid 4th place finish in Moto 2 netted a 5th overall for Joey Savatgy.
Factory Yamaha’s Cooper Webb’s 7-9 Moto finishes were good enough for 7th overall in the 450cc Class.
Round 9 – Sachsenring, Germany – July 15, 2018
It was a breakthrough win for Brad Binder at the Sachsenring, Germany track last weekend in the Moto2 division. Binder, a former Moto3 World Champion, has battled through injuries the past two seasons but was back to form for Round 9 of the series. There are 10 rounds remaining in the series.
MOTOAMERICA ROAD RACING
Utah Motorsports Campus – Tooele, Utah – July 20-21, 2018
Cameron Beaubier finished 2nd on Saturday in the Superbike Class and 1st on Sunday. Beaubier now has a 49 point lead in the series.
Josh Herrin finished third on Saturday behind Beaubier, then on Sunday had a spectacular crash during qualifying and was not able to race. Check out his crash HERE.
Hayden Gillim finished 2nd on Saturday but posted a DNF on Sunday. He still salvaged enough points to hold onto 2nd in the Supersport Class standings.
2018 X GAMES
U.S. Bank Stadium – Minneapolis, MN – July 20-22, 2018
Jared Mees took the Gold Medal in the Flat Track event.
Axell Hodges did not disappoint his fans as he took the Gold Medal in the Quarter Pipe High Air. Tyler Bereman finished with the Bronze Medal. Both riders rely on the Moto-9 Flex.
2018 MX MASTER KIDS
France – July 13-15, 2018
Jesse James Shedden made Team USA proud at the MX Master Kids world event held last week in France. Shedden took top honors in the 50cc Class and finished 3rd in the 7-9 65cc Class. The nine-rider USA team competed against 27 other countries and came home as world champions.
FULL GAS SPRINT ENDURO
Round 5 – LL Raceway, Fairmount City, PA – July 14-15, 2018
Bell Helmets’ Mackenzie Tricker has been battling all year with Bell Helmets’ Tayla Jones for the overall win in the Women’s Pro division of the Sprint Enduro Series. Last weekend in Pennsylvania, Tricker took the top spot on the podium. Jones still has control of the series with Tricker only 20 points behind. Bell’s Brooke Cosner holds down the 3rd spot in the Women’s Pro division.
Rattlesnake National – Cross Fork, PA – July 22, 2018
Tricker wins one weekend and Tayla Jones wins the next. Jones was on her game this weekend at the Rattlesnake Enduro, once again taking the Women’s Elite division overall win. Mackenzie took 2nd.
ATV MX NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
RedBud MX – Buchanan, MI – July 22, 2018
Cody Janssen’s year-long hard work paid off as he clinched the Junior 25+ division this weekend at RedBud.
LORETTA LYNN’S NATIONAL AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Eli Tomac is an eight-time Loretta Lynn’s champion and this year they honored his Amateur and Professional career by placing his image on the official event t-shirt.
