MENTOR, Ohio (August 24, 2018) – Wiseco-sponsored Honda Canada GDR FOX Racing rider, Colton Facciotti, collected his fifth 450 Class Championship following his fourth overall win of the 2018 season in last weekend's Rockstar Triple Crown Motocross season finale at Walton Raceway in Ontario, Canada.
The rider of the No. 45 Wiseco-backed Honda CRF450R tallied seven moto wins, six podiums, and eight top-five overall finishes in the season, edging out Cole Thompson for the 2018 championship. Facciotti could have played it safe, carrying a solid points lead heading into the final round, but a solid second-place finish in the first moto locked up the title, affording him the freedom to hang it out in the second moto and score the win.
"I had a 22-point lead going into Walton but we had a weekend off, so I was pretty stressed out doing the numbers," explained Facciotti. "The first championship was really special and then I had those couple of years where I was close. In 2015 I was pretty close. I think I missed it by three points. I feel like I've had the speed every year to do good and be in that top spot. Sometimes it just doesn't come together. For it to finally come together after a couple years of bad luck, it's pretty awesome."
Facciotti's 250 Class stablemate Dylan Wright made his own mark by earning his third overall win of the season on the junior circuit. To complete the weekend sweep for the team, Wright put together an electrifying come-from-behind performance in the first 250 Class moto after a first-turn crash left him deep in the field. The Ottawa, Ontario resident rallied from 38th to ride his Wiseco-sponsored machine to a top-two result.
In the second moto, Wright was third out of the starting gate and was charging toward the leaders until an incident on the second lap relegated him back to 10th in the running order. Despite the misfortune, Wright wouldn't be denied. The 2017 championship runner-up dug deep to pick up the moto win and finish 2-1 on the day.
