Corona, Calif. (August 22, 2018) - Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Austin Forkner and Joey Savatgy are hoping to round out the year with more moto wins and the overall victory, making their mark at the season finale. Forkner is familiar with winning at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, taking the overall in his rookie season at the venue. Savatgy has also earned two runner-up finishes in Indiana, giving the team reason for excitement entering the final round of the Pro Motocross Championship.
Last weekend, Forkner was able to break through from a tough few rounds to claim a moto podium despite still feeling the effects of a sickness from earlier in the week. Knowing he's got the speed and making a full recovery, Forkner's eyes are on the biggest trophy at Ironman Raceway as he looks to repeat his 2016 performance.
"It's been a long, tough season, but I would love nothing more than to end it on top of the podium," said Forkner. "I've been so close, felt great at certain races and haven't been able to bring a win to the team. I want that to change this weekend. I want it bad and I only have this last chance to prove it."
Savatgy has also shown his speed throughout this season and proven he's capable of running fast at the Ironman circuit. His top finishes have come late in the season, making this the perfect time for Savatgy to put his KX250F on the podium.
"It's hard when you have an off weekend, and it makes you only want to get right back out there and prove you have what it takes," said Savatgy. "It would be great to get a win, if nothing else a solid podium finish."
The riders will be signing autographs at the Monster Energy Kawasaki semi on Saturday between practice sessions. Saturday's race from Ironman Raceway will be broadcast on MAVTV and NBC Sports starting at 1 p.m. ET.
