Cypress, Calif.– July 19, 2018–The Monster Energy/Yamaha Factory Racing Team returns to action this Saturday, July 21, for Round 8 of the 2018 AMA Pro Motocross Championship in Millville, Minnesota. With its rough nature, rolling hills and wide-open sand whoops, the Spring Creek National is among the favorite stops for Yamaha bLU cRU riders, who are ready to hit the track running after a constructive weekend off from racing.
Justin Barcia continues to show consistency and poise this season as he upholds a solid third-place position in the 450MX standings with five rounds remaining. With five overall podiums in the first seven rounds, Barcia is on the cusp of earning his first moto win of the season and he will continue to fight for that center spot this Saturday at Spring Creek.
With two full rounds under his belt, Cooper Webb is diligently working his way back into the Pro Motocross Championship this summer. The North Carolina native has steadily improved his overall results thus far and he looks forward to racing at a track that he deems favorable in Millville.
Justin Barcia, 450MX #51
"It was nice to have a weekend off [from racing]. I caught up on a little bit of rest, it's been a long grind so far this season. I also did some off-the-bike training, road biking and worked on some issues I was having with my technique, and things like that on the track, to try to pick up some speed and it's looking good going into the weekend. I've had good races at Millville in the past and I enjoy the dirt there, the jumps and the long whoop section – it's a fun track. I'm definitely looking to be back on the podium and still going for that win, that's the goal and the sight I have in mind. I missed the team on the off-weekend so it will be good to get back and see everyone, do some battling and racing and have some fun."
Cooper Webb, 450MX #2
"I'm really excited heading into Millville. It's been a good two weeks of riding and doing some testing in North Carolina. I was able to come back here to train during the week after RedBud and I feel like I've gained some good speed and it's been good to ride the east coast soil. I think it's going to prepare me much better than being in California. I had a decent race at RedBud and I'm looking to improve on that this weekend. I've always really liked Millville and done well there in the past, so I'm excited to go there again and hopefully have some good success."
