Colin Tarango is one of the riders in the beginner class at the Muscle Milk/Transworld MX Race series.  Tarango has been keeping his YZ250F up towards the front of the pack of the Beginner 250F and the Open 125-450 Beginner classes and has brought home several podium finishes, including some recent overall class wins.  As one of the building blocks of the sport, Tarango is showing marked improvement in his results over the Summer Cup and Fall Cup series.  With his speed and skills increasing, we should be seeing him move into the Novice classes in the near future.  We caught up with Tarango at the end of the day at the Milestone MX round to get to know a little more about him.

How did you get started riding?
I started when I was very young, like 2 years old, then I just got more and more into it.

What made you want to start riding motorcycles?
I saw it and just wanted to try it out and found out I really enjoyed it.

Are you the only one in your family that rides and races motocross?
Yes, I am the only one in the family that races.

What is it about motocross that drew you in and made you want to do it?
It just looked really fun.  It keeps me motivated and also gives me motivation to do other things.

What do you like about motocross over all of the other sports?
I have played some of the other sports, but I don’t really like them much, motocross is way more fun.  I just enjoy motocross far more than those other sports.

What rider would you say gives you inspiration to ride and race?
I would have to say Ken Roczen.  I have always liked him since I first saw him race and I’ve always looked up to him for how hard he races.

What other things do you do besides motocross?
I use to play baseball and other sports, but now I just work out and train when I am not riding.

What types of training do you do?
I ride mountain bikes and do pushups and cardio and that type of thing.

How often do you get to ride motocross?
I have a track at my house so I ride at my house whenever I can which is almost every day.

Has having a track at your house helped you build your skills so quickly over the last year?
Yeah, I think it has helped a lot.  I think it helps a lot for when the tracks get rough too.

What do you like about the Muscle Milk/Tranworld MX series?
It is the closest series to where I live, but they are really fun races.
