TWMXRS West Coast Open Series | Round One | Pala Raceway
The first round of the 2018 TWMX West Coast Open Series is officially in the books, as we made our stop at Pala Raceway for an exciting day of racing this past Sunday. Thanks to an amazing track crew and some rain earlier in the week, Pala's track conditions were all-time. Hundreds of racers filtered through the facility's gates eager to hit the track, as this was the TWMXRS's first stop of 2018 at Pala Raceway. With some amazing track conditions and loads of talent, the first stop of the West Coast Open Series was one to remember.
Yes… we've mentioned his name before, but Kai Aiello seems to get faster and faster every time we see him. The ripper out of Temecula, CA is a regular at the TWMX races, and has been for quite some time. Though, we've watched Kai grow and progress on a motorcycle over the years, he still seems to impress us each time he's on the track. Well… Kai did just that this past Sunday, as he dominated all three of his classes and took home six moto wins. It's literally impossible to put together a more successful day at the races. Great ride, Kai!
The 65cc classes are always stacked full of talent and speed, which makes for some exciting racing. TWMXRS regular, Caden Gonzalez, proved to be the kid to beat in both of his 65cc classes and the 0-11 years 85/150F class. Aside from a mishap during one of his second motos, Caden nearly put together a perfect race day. The youngster out of Costa Mesa, CA took home five moto wins and two overall class victories. As the series goes on, Caden will surely be a rider to watch in both the 65cc and 85cc classes.
Garrett Briggs was one of the hundreds of racers that joined us at Pala Raceway for round one of the West Coast Open Series. Though, Garrett managed to make his appearance known as he swept both the Open 85-150F/Supermini and Big Wheel Open 85/150F classes. The kid out of Chino, CA won all four of his motos, after building a sizable lead on the rest of the field. Having now dominated the Supermini and Big Wheel Open classes, Garrett will be the kid to beat at round two of the West Coast Open Series; which is set to take place at Glen Helen Raceway on April 22nd.
