The Mini Major always attracts some unlikely spectators, and on day two of the 2018 Mini Major presented by Seven MX, Alex Ray showed up to check out some of the racing action and help announce a couple races. Ray enjoyed a banner year in 2018 as he landed a fill-in ride with the Monster Energy Yamaha team when Cooper Webb was injured and was able to earn his first-ever National MX championship points. Recently, Ray suffered a couple of compression fractures in his back at the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas and has been on the sidelines healing up. Fortunately, his performances earlier in the year attracted the attention of the HEP Suzuki team and he is all signed up for the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross Series. We chatted with the popular rider before he climbed into the announcer’s tower to help call the action.
