2017 was a critical year for Jeffrey Herlings. After a storied career in the MX2 ranks of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross World Championship, the flying Dutchman made the jump to the premier MXGP division and a starting gate full of world champions. There was plenty of hype surrounding Herlings after he showed incredible speed in the small preseason races around Europe until one hard crash in Italy resulted in a broken hand and had him off the mark in the opening rounds of the real series. With the support of the Red Bull KTM MXGP crew, Herlings improved as the year continued and was a front-runner at every round in the final half of the year. Now that year one is done, it’ll be interesting to see what Herlings is truly capable of in 2018.
