It’s easy to lose track of what’s really important in life, especially with so much going on in our daily lives. We have tendency to lose perspective on the things that should matter the most like our health, family and community, so occasionally everything needs to be put into perspective. For us, that moment came this past Saturday at the home of five year old Amelie, who is fighting for her life right now, as she is currently battling pediatric cancer. To bring a little bit of childhood back to Amelie in her fight against cancer, the Wienerschnitzel family came together with the Roc Solid Foundation to build a playground in her backyard in hopes of bringing “play” back to her life. With this playground build, Amelie is given back a piece of her childhood that was so abruptly taken away.
Once the build was complete, Amelie, her three-year-old brother Bravery, her mother and her father – who is currently serving in the U.S. military – returned from an afternoon of shopping and lunch to see their brand new playground. Amelie’s reaction was something that won’t soon be forgotten, and we were honored to be a part of this memorable day.
