The life of a privateer isn’t a simple one, and we see it first hand, day in and day out. SoCal local Ryan Surratt is entering his third year of Supercross, but this season is going to be a little different, as he’s opted to compete in the premiere class. Surratt’s decision to move up a class arose for several reasons, but the primary being for financial purposes since the bigger bikes require less maintenance and next to no expensive motor modifications that last only a limited amount of time. We sat down with the #951 yesterday amidst motos on a very windy SX track to chat about the challenges he faces as a privateer along with the number of reasons for the switch to the big boy class.
