Alex Ray is a long-time privateer racer who realized a dream this summer when Monster Energy Yamaha Factory Racing called him and asked him to fill in aboard one of its factory Yamaha YZ450Fs for the injured Cooper Webb. Having completed the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Championship for the Rock River Yamaha team on a Supercross-only contract, Ray was set to contest the first few rounds on his father’s personal motorcycle before he got the call up. Ray joined us in the Swapmoto Live studio’s just before the gate dropped at the Glen Helen 450 National, where he made his debut as a factory rider.
