When injuries sidelined Dylan Ferrandis and Colt Nichols in the middle of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross Series, the Monster Energy/Yamalube/Star/Yamaha Factory Racing team knew they were in need of a fill-in rider for the remaining rounds of the 250 East Coast Region championship. With very few options available in the United States due to riders already locked into contracts, their attention turned to the international talent pool. With input from the team’s trainer Gareth Swanepoel, they found Thomas Ramette, a French racer with plenty of indoor racing experience in the UK Arenacross series and the French SX Tour. After getting a call on Monday evening, Ramette was on a plane from Europe to the United States Tuesday morning. At his first event with the team in St. Louis, we spent a few minutes with Ramette learning more about his new deal.
